Right Focus Consultants has facilitated outplacement services to numerous separated employees from different levels and diverse multi-national environments over a number of years. Here we discovered that a substantial number of these out-placed employees could have stayed in their jobs if they knew how and if the management clearly understood their honest concerns. We observed various perceptions impacted their work attitudes, which in turn blunted their enthusiasm, affecting their productivity adversely. One other very important feedback that came across was that employees want their employers to be honest with them in the same way as the employers seek honest and open feedback from them. Employees appeared to distrust in their employers’ promised deliverables. Overall there appeared to be a lack of connection, an unfulfilled sense of belongingness and indifference to the concept of partnership between the employers and the employed.
These qualitative assessments have led us to believe that there was indeed a need to ascertain an open and honest assessment of the level of ‘engagement’ of the employees with their organisation. A true understanding of the engagement quotient will help the management to design and develop more appropriate intervention tools according to the needs of each specific group within the organization.
Right Focus Consultants was established in 2002 to provide employers with the much needed honest and open feedback from their employees.
